S. Leslie "Kevin's Mom" (Plano, TX United States) : Got this for my 5 year old son so he could have his own camera instead of grabbing mine. I already had to have my camera worked on once because he was rough on it. He obviously had an interest in taking pictures and his "kids" camera just wasn't cutting it with him. He wanted a "big kid" version. The pricing allowed me to get something that would serve his curiosity and the features allow it to serve as my backup camera. Because the right side has the extended curve, it is easy for him to hold. I like that it used AA batteries so that I don't have to spend a lot on a proprietary one. The quality has been fine. No complaints.
Bar Con (USA) : I have not had this camera for long, but so far it has been fairly easy to learn its operational procedures and it takes good quality pictures. My only concern for the future is the durability of the black hard rubber cover on the Audio/video Output Digital Terminal. This covers the place where you plug in the cable to download pictures to the computer. I fear it may break off after any amount of use and I doubt it could be replaced. I hope I am wrong. Perhaps Canon might address that.
Anita John : It is tiny but the screen is as big as the camera.
It really does have a nice shake system, if shake a bit or take a picture driving 60 mph it adjusts for that without blur.
Love the price for what I got.
The only hard thing was the install CD did not work for some reason. I had to download the software and the driver for it. That took some time and I had to have tech support from Cannon help on-line. It all worked out though.

This Camera is slow. It takes a long time to get ready for the next picture especially when using flash. This makes action photography is almost impossible to take it. so far the other functions has not given me trouble.
Lala : It has a number of settings I had to get used to but overall it's a great little camera for a novice.
This camera is 16 mega pixels and my older Cannon A560 only has 7.1 mega pixels that's the
main reason I bought it. But overall I like it but I probably didn't need it, so my wife says.
Edward : We purchased this Cannon PowerShot A810 for my daughter's birthday last year. It will be a year next month and she loves it. It does everything she needs it to. Even her teenage sons like it. We would give it as a gift again.

Andy Crandall : My camera was defective. It was not working properly when I took it out of the box. I tried to use it for one week. I finally called Cannon for tech service. They said I would need to send it in to the warranty center for repair. I just received an email today. They want $85.52 to repair a camera that I've had for about 4 weeks and paid $74.00 dollars for. I am not happy with Cannon. I have used Cannon cameras for 20 years. This will probably be my last.
John : Camera works well but I have some problems with savings images on SD card, often is not recording and shows error. I have tried different card and did not help.
BOB : I have a Blog and needed clear pictures quickly and dependably, that I can adjust and work with. I'm not into fancy, smancy, loaded with features type cameras. I love this one, it works great and I can adjust the pictures on my computer to post later. I keep finding more small features on it. The zoom, lens directional capabilities and video features are terrific too! All this and reasonable too... Birdie Gee

saralynn17 : I received this camera as a gift and was hopeful that it would be an easy point and shoot like previous cameras I had. We had owned one of the very first Canon digital point-and-shoots and it's still plugging away - much better than this one. Very disappointing. It hesitates a lot before it will take a picture (I think that's partly the "Auto" mode that's analyzing what kind of photo/lighting it is?) The different settings are very hard to find. For example, to find the auto-timer is not very intuitive, and so I missed a couple of family photos there. I'm on my 3rd set of batteries and have only taken a about a 100 pictures. When I have tried to use it at family gatherings, I pick it up, aim it, press, ....and NOTHING! It refuses to take the picture! Very embarrassing! I will be replacing this very soon. I would not recommend this product.
Lewis20813 : I use these cameras and they are perfect for our work, but the cover to the batteries was broken on it, so we have to use tape to keep it shut. Not a very professional look, wish it hadn't been broken.. But can't afford to get another one right now.
John Mackay : Very good camera for the money. The picture has great quality and it fits in my purse--small and compact. I like this camera with the stabilizer and rich color with 16 MP, much better than my 5MP. This is hold old my camera was, so I needed a durable dependable small camera and this fits the requirements.

Robert Schmitt (Tavares, FL, US) : I started with the A580, used it for years, shutter failed, then went on to an A590 model.
It is smaller, takes clearer pictures, has similar features to the A590, in a smaller package.
I didn't have to learn a whole new set of skills to use. The only drawback is there's no viewfinder.
The A810 LCD screen is harder to see in bright sunlight. Other than that, a really good camera.
It has a decent zoom feature and it's very easy to use (there is a 'question' button on the back, how much simpler can you get??) There is a slight hesitation in some settings but you can find a setting that pretty much fires as soon as you push the button.
The camera powers up quickly. The menu system is easy to access, you put the camera in "Live" mode and you can access all the special shooting modes by repeatedly pressing the thumb dial. In "Auto" mode the camera chooses the mode for you. I found "Auto" mode adequate to most of my needs except when taking pictures of people, then I prefer the "Portrait" mode. Recording movies is simple, just push the red button. I have not used the movie mode extensively. The zoom lever is around the shutter release where I prefer it.
MikeRock : I had a Canon A460 for a few years that took great pictures until one day it bit the dust, so I looked into this camera. So far its been great, however I like taking widescreen shots, and while I was able to do this with the A460 in different resolutions to save filespace, you only have 1 option on the A810, and that is close to 3 MB,so a regular SD card will not hold too many pictures, so I had to get an 8GB SDHC card.
Other than that, its been a great camera.
123 : The features of this camera are many. Some of which are very nice/fun to mess with. It is all spoiled by a very poor quality image sensor. All the photos appear grainy as if they were taken in low light scenarios, even in broad daylight.
For instance. Using a tripod at ISO 200 in broad daylight I took a photo of a friend who was wearing a black t-shirt. Within the dark area's of the photo (the black t-shirt) you could see intense grain, and no the shirt was not dirty.
Overall the image quality is not that far from what a cel-phone is capable of. So you might not want to waste your money on this camera.

Canon PowerShot S120 Voucher
NVH (Northern New York) : Purchased this for my father in law's 90th birthday as he was still taking pictures with a disposable 35 mm film camera. This camera is a fairly straight forward camera - point and shoot- which is what I wanted for him. ONLY issue so far is that it is quite small and very smooth making it difficult for him to not drop while pushing the button. I'm going to try some strategically placed velcro or something similar to aid in his ability to hang onto the camera.
The seller was prompt with delivery. The box was a bit tattered and I did not get the feeling that this was a "factory new" item although I had understood that I was ordering "new". It looked like everthing that should be there was there, just not boxed and wrapped like a brand new camera. I had put in batteries and a memory card before wrapping the camera so my father-in-law was none the wiser as to whether or not it was a brand new camera otherwise I would have questioned if it was new or would have just returned it.
Marquis S. "Ace" (Philadelphia, PA USA) : I give this 5/5 rating, its an amazing camera, and can record in 720p which is pretty good for a point & shoot
This camera takes amazing photos, and I've al ready filmed a couple action scenes with this baby!
the pictures are cristal clear and so is the footage when recorded!
Robert A. Knox (Claymont, Delaware United States) : this product works very well, only problems I have instruction manual is terrible, I have been taking pictures for over 50 years, this is a wonderful camera, does a beautiful job, well made, I love photos it produces, and is very good looking.

Daneen Petty (Las Vegas NV) : I'm a serious amateur photographer, so my go-to camera is a digital DSLR...but it's heavy and with prohibitive luggage prices these days, sometimes I'd rather not travel with it and risk its health. For destinations involving family parties or where I'll likely take fun photos versus anything deeply artistic, I don't mind a simpler point and shoot. The last one I bought I had high hopes for as my previous model with Sony was great. It was terrible and I've never been happy with it. I read reviews and took a chance on this one and am very, very happy. If all you want to do is point and shoot a photo or video you'll LOVE it. No "dialing" to video setting, just push the record button on the back and launch right into filming. Now, if you want to be a little more artistic or have very high standards...I think you'll still like it a lot. 16 megapixels means great resolution. It has a decent zoom feature and it's very easy to use (there is a 'question' button on the back, how much simpler can you get??) There is a slight hesitation in some settings but you can find a setting that pretty much fires as soon as you push the button. Likewise, there is quite a long hesitation using the flash as it is "charging the flash". I can still get around that with a different setting. There is an interesting setting that takes three photos in lightening-speed-succession and "marries" the best from each into one final photo--so if someone moves or blinks, you'll still get a good sharp shot. That was pretty cool. Since high resolution and a fast trigger are my biggest concerns, I'm happy with this. It's not a DSLR, but I know that and don't hold that against it. There are other reviews here that go into much greater depth (and I found them to be spot-on)---my unanswered question was about shutter speed and I find it adequate for what I use this camera for. I'm not sorry at all that I took a chance on it.
Lisade (South Georgia) : Here are some specifications for the A810:
Sensor 1/2.3" (pretty standard size)
Lens Aperture: f2.8 (wide) to f6.9 (telephoto)
Resolutions available: 16MP: 4608 x 3456, 8MP: 3264 x 2448, 2MP: 1600 x 1200, 0.3MP: 640 x 480

DJ : The camera is small and light. It is smaller than I expected and is thin. It is all plastic and feels sturdy. It has no viewfinder. The LCD screen is large for a camera this small and shows good detail in outdoor light. The quality falls off in low or indoor light. The camera is easy to hold in one or two hands and has a substantial bump under the shutter release to grip. There is no texture to assist you in gripping the camera, but the bump has a defined edge you can grip with fingertips. My biggest complaint is having the on-off button right next the shutter release. The buttons are the same color and texture and differ only in size making them easy to confuse.
Mr.T : After years of lugging SLRs and superzooms around I decided to downsize to smaller cameras a couple of years ago. The pictures the A810 takes have well saturated color and plenty of detail for viewing on a screen or prints up to 8x10. Actually for a camera as small and as inexpensive as this is I find the picture quality amazing. Compared to the cameraphones most people use it takes stunning pictures. On my laptop screen it takes pictures that are as good as those made with my superzoom. I give up some zoom range and lens speed, but gain a camera that fits in a pocket. I get that convenience without giving up much image quality.

Mac Buddha "aka deburr" (Tucson) : I don't know why, in all the descriptions of this camera that is does not include "Uses SDHC, not included." I had to go to the Canon web site to plow through the information to find that sort of necessary bit of information. Other than that, to me, very important bit of information, it is an excellent, tiny camera. It does everything I want to do with it, and does it quite simply. It's not a big, expensive, professional camera, but I didn't need one of those. Another thought in passing. It might not need to be said, but this is pretty much a right handed camera. A leftie can probably use it, but it might be a little awkward. Works fine for me

JJ : I bought this with a little trepidation and $60 which is pretty cheap for a 16mp camera. Some people complained about image quality in other reviews but I noticed this only on the cameras screen NOT on the computer. Sometime however if you move while taking the picture it will come out blurry, but its noticeable on the camera's screen. It does not come with a memory card (MicroSD) so you'll have to pick one up. I wouldn't recommend buying a MicroSD less than 4gb, as the pictures can be pretty big and the video can take up a lot since it is 720. The video function is quite good and quite frankly I should use it more.
A good thing about the camera is that it uses AA batteries, making in convenient (I had a Nikon with a special battery which was really annoying, especially when it ran out of charge and you have to wait for it to charge). The battery life seemed to be not bad as well.
Lala : I'm trained in art and photography, and I sort of have a thing for cameras. My wife, on the other hand is not into anything technical. She needed a simple point and shoot with good video and sound for when our grand daughter visits.I am a big fan of Canon, so I began my search there. The reason I settled on this one was the BATTERIES. I think a simple pocket point and shoot should use AA batteries, it's much more practical for the casual user, just use rechargeables. The great thing about AA is that if you're out at the zoo or somewhere and your batteries go dead, you can find them anywhere.
After comparing this camera to the other Canons in it's price range, this was the right choice, the little bulge for the batteries actually make it easier to handle in my opinion. It's a great little camera for what I paid, takes very good pictures and videos, it's simple to use, easy to store, and it uses AA BATTERIES! I wish more cameras did.
Anonymous : I gave this camera to my sister who had previously owned a Nikon Cool Pix that she didn't like because it had too many bells and whistles and it was a touch screen that annoyed her. Long story short she dropped the Nikon and it broke so I told her I'd order something I thought she would like better. Easy to use right out of the box and takes great photo. Has video and that too is simple to use. If you are looking for a nice basic point and shoot don't hesitate to purchase this one. I own 5 Canons and each one from the point and shoot to the Rebel is a great camera, you can,t go wrong with a Canon

Herbert H. Yau (East TN, United States) : Let me start with a little "complaint" here: People are unnecessarily ruining the reputation of a perfectly good camera because they don't know what they are talking about. So, if you haven't owned/used a range of photographic equipment or have some knowledge/skill/abilities in photography, don't write a review.
Quick summery: It's a great camera for the price range. It is reasonable rugged, easy to use, and has good picture quality. If you want to buy this camera as a beater, glovebox camera or as your pre-teen son/daughter's first camera it is excellent.
jmcguire : The only real negative to me is the lack of instant-access controls and settings, with almost all of them being on-screen now. While that's the default nowadays, and it does have some advantages for reliability (not to mention real estate when most of the back of the camera is LCD screen) it is definitely slower than just turning a dial to switch modes. Still, for the average user who probably doesn't need to change them in an instant, this is not likely to be an issue.
AJ : The camera works fine, takes excellent pictures even though they look very grainy in the display screen before you take the shot. I love that it takes only 2 AA batteries, so I didn't have to bother with spending extra money on a special extra battery. I did have a problem with the software that comes with the camera; it refused to work or open; so I deleted it and just used the programs already installed in my macbook. The batteries tend to fall out when you remove the SD card to put it in your card reader, so I ended up using the USB cable and downloaded directly from the camera using PREVIEW and IMAGE CAPTURE, both Apps that were already on my Mac. Already a Powershot user, I found the menu's easy to use and of course the new help button reminded me of what I'd forgotten. I'd recommend this camera for casual point and shoot situations where an SLR is overkill. It also does a great job capturing written documents with clarity (something I do often) that rivals my SLR when it comes to clarity. Although the software was frustrating when it didn't work and froze my laptop, the camera itself is great. I'd say I'm pleased overall with the purchase.

Laura : I'll note right off the bat -- I've been interested in photography for many years and have been honing my skills, but I am not a professional photographer. As a result, I can only speak to the qualities of this camera that might appeal to beginner/intermediate photographers. I owned a previous version of the Canon PowerShot and enjoyed it so much that I decided to purchase this newer model.
Ali Pezeshkpour (Davis, CA USA) : The Canon PowerShot ELPH 130 is the latest Canon PowerShot I've owned, making it probably the third or fourth in about 8 years that I've been using Canon cameras. What draws me to Canon is the amazing picture quality and the ability to truly customize settings, almost as with a digital SLR, without the bulkiness or hefty price tag.
Michael Rothberg "Michael" (USA) : reat camera. I love it. The pictures are incredible and clear resolution at 16MP. I also have a Canon T3i and travel alot. But during travels, the size of the Canon T3i makes it very impractical and heavy. So the ELPH 130 is my travel camera. It goes on my hip and takes great pictures. I especially love the CMOS capability, which makes it a very nice camera for close quarters and limited lighting. I strongly recommend this camera to anyone looking to buy a camera that takes professional quality pictures at a fraction of the cost of a large professional camera.

Janaan Darrow : I bought this camera because of the described features - regular batteries, HD movies as easy as pressing a button, the extra small eye for glare-free steady focus. To supplement my camera, I ordered a 16GB memory card, the recommended case, the 2-year protection plan and after a little research, the designated USB cable: Canon PowerShot SD1400 IS USB Cable - USB Computer Cord for PowerShot SD1400 IS (which with shipping cost $10.74). After trying it out on a skiing trip I was pleased with the fast shooting, the long battery life, true colors and textures. Awesome camera!
Rob Reppert : Being able to use the view finder and turning off the back screen saves batteries. If you do need to change batteries this camera uses standard AAs that are available everywhere. The 5x zoom is great and more adaptable than a phone or tablet camera. The size of the camera is great. Fits in a pocket with ease.
DENNIS E EBERSOLD : If you are looking for a great little economical camera this is it. Love the AA Battery feature...no charger to take along on trips. You can buy backup batteries almost anywhere. For a AA camera it has a long battery life. I am using rechargables I bought on Amazon. The complaint about the plastic camera body made me laugh. My $1200.00 Olympus Mr Bulky is all plastic so is the interior on my $40,000.00 Pickup. So why expect more from a $100.00 camera. The only comlaint is that the SD card is in the same compartment as the AA batteries. Not a deal breaker for me, but kind of inconvenient. Photos are excellent, sharp bright colors. I didn't buy this for the video feature however it has better sound quality than my wifes $500.00 camcorder. I was amazed. Love the telephoto viewfinder feature. If you are looking for an economical, take along camera that does a decent job this is it.

Canon PowerShot SX260 Voucher
E. Tam (Antioch, CA) : I received my SX260 last Wednesday and have taken about 700 shots and a few quick 5 minute video. Without writing a novel, here are the high/low points of this unit. In addition to this unit, I also purchased a couple of aftermarket batteries (and after market A/C adapters for about $5.00 each) for about $5.00 each and the batteries work fine. With the battery (original and aftermarket) I was able to get over 300 shots (50% flash) with zooming and playback and the battery meter still showed about 25% charge remaining.
K. S. Bowen "KS Bowen" (California) : I am an experienced amateur photographer and I've owned many cameras over the past 40 years. I've had some photos published but photography has always been strictly a hobby, though a serious one. I shoot with a Canon 7D, Rebel backup, various 'L' lenses, and I also use an Olympus E-P1 occasionally as well as a Canon S90 and Powershot 1100S (kept in my glovebox for 'emergencies'). I enjoy taking pictures.
Artemaria (New York City) : I couldn't decide between these three cameras (and their variants, the Sony HX30 and the Panasonic ZX20) because many of the reviews of each made the cameras sound very similar. So, I went out and bought (from merchants who accepted returns) one of each of these three cameras (I didn't need WI-FI or GPS, so that's how I settled on these less expensive variants). And then I took photos and videos in various conditions. I am not a professional photographer, and I didn't do Imatest or any other specific tests on the images (you can read C/net for that), but this is an experience of a regular person who was taking pictures and videos with these three cameras side by side, which is a comparison that you do not often see.

Yarii : For the past 2 years I looked at the Canon SX-series cameras, but being a person who can only be happy with a lithium-battery camera, I shied away from these. So I finally went for it after reading the AA battery life is getting better. If you buy some rechargeables, preferably Eneloops, you will be happy enough.
John Sturgeon (Monterey, California) : A WORD OF CAUTION: This camera is not ideal for everyone. There is no point buying something that you are not going to like. If you don't like AA batteries, then you won't like this camera. Its features probably don't outweigh its faults unless you really want to use AA batteries. It does not have a viewfinder, none of this line of cameras ever has, so if you want a viewfinder then this camera simply will not work for you. Also, for the record, this camera is not a fast-action camera. It is not the best camera for taking pictures of fast-moving children or sports action shots. Photos taken with it at higher ISOs (film speed) are pretty grainy even in good light. And the flash-recovery time is notoriously - there is no other word for it - slow! If any of this won't work for you in your own individual situation, then you really need to look elsewhere, seriously, because this camera simply will not meet your needs and will only frustrate you when you try to use it.
David : I originally gave a 5 star rating, and demoted to 4 stars after field testing because of its lack of panorama feature. However, I have discovered that there is a panorama function in the included software disc so you can stitch on your computer later. That's better than nothing, but my previous comparable cameras had internal panorama stitching with a guide so you line up the images yourself in the process of taking them or even sweep the camera for auto stitch. I have installed the software for this camera but not used it yet. But how can you be sure you have the proper overlap matching when taking the photos separately? What about when you get back home & realize they don't match up well? You'd be able to retake the shot with an internal stitching camera but with this one, you're just out of luck with a bad photo. The fact that it is not very obvious that the panorama stitching capability even exists and that it is not in a user friendly format keeps the rating at 4 stars instead of 5, although I'm hopeful that I'll gain a knack for it over time. Overall I am still quite pleased with this cameras features for my backpacking, camping, & hiking purposes

Canon PowerShot A2300 Voucher
D. M. Kemp (Dallas, TX) : The pictures are decent. I find some of the interior pictures are a bit grainy, even with the flash. The flash is plenty bright - so no issues there. Switching to low light mode made all the difference. This quick change off the menu function made for clear crisp pictures.
Yugi : I received this camera last week (purchased for a 12 year old niece's birthday). This camera, even though it's listed as red, is actually bright pink, but it's still subtle, it doesn't SCREAM bright pink. One thing that surprised me is that it's made of metal, not plastic like others in the under $100 price range. However, it is made in China, but I own other cameras that are in the $400+ range that were also made in China, so price isn't the determining factor on the manufacturing location.
Shihtzu Mom (Virginia) : The Canon A2300 is a great point and shoot camera for casual users. It's easy to use, and takes very clear pictures with wonderful color rendition. It has reasonable resolution (clarity) in zoom mode, and performs well for action shots at sporting events. The auto mode settings are fine for most photos. Low light zoom shots (such as stage shows in dark auditoriums)may not be completely acceptable, but that's a tough condition for any camera and should NOT be considered a serious flaw. The movie mode works well, with good clarity and color. Bottom line: for everyday shapshots (condidering the performance, features, and price) you'll be happy with the A2300. For more details you can download the user manual from the Canon website.

John Sturgeon (Monterey, California) : As some of you know, the Canon SX100 series are my favorite cameras. I always carry the latest model with me in a video-camera-shoulder-bag (i.e. - "purse" for dudes,) everyday, wherever I go. I have owned and used all of them from the SX100 to the SX160. I have long-considered the Canon SX100 line of cameras to be "The Best 2-AA-Battery All-Purpose Travel and Field Cameras Ever Made." I have posted 5-star reviews of both the SX150 and SX160 here on Amazon during the last two years, and I have made it abundantly clear why I feel so strongly favorable of them.
tcaseyrochester "tcaseyrochester" (Upstate NY) : Some have criticized the change from AA sized batteries to a Canon propriety battery pack. Hogwash. Technology is going to move forward and the use of a battery pack simply does not mean this camera is any less useful. When you travel into the great whatever with an older camera you thought ahead and took extra batteries with you. Now you think ahead and make sure your battery is charged and yes if you will be away from an outlet you take as many extra battery packs as you need. I am guilty of not thinking ahead plenty of times with the AA technology with no means of stopping into a store to buy more, this camera is no different.
Stanley Torow "st" (Milford CT) : Some reviewers lament the change from AA batteries to proprietary lithium-ion compared with the previous model, SX160. Too bad! End-of-the-world hyperbole is so boring. Canon evidently decided the market for AA-dependent cameras is virtually dead outside the Third World. Canon can now design their electronics without the vagaries of various AA battery brands and types, eg, alkaline vs. NiMH. Yes, the NB-6L battery costs more--so what else is new? If you don't like it, buy something else and leave me out of your crusade.

Military Mommy (South Dakota) : This is my 6th point and shoot (P&S) camera in 9 years, ranging in price from $200-$300. I have had 1 Bell & Howell, 3 Nikons and this is my 2nd Canon P&S camera. The last 2 P&S cameras I had I literally wore out by taking so many pictures. I bought this as a second camera for my husband (who doesn't usually take pictures) to use when he goes hunting with my son. I chose a Canon because I have a Canon DSLR and love it. I also wanted an inexpensive camera, because I thought it would sit on the shelf for most of the year. Of course it did not come with a memory card, as I have yet to buy any camera that does.
Robert E. Weaver : As a long time Canon compact camera user my favorite new features on the A2500 are...
The Canon PowerShot A2500 does not just stop at taking images but is rather adept at handling videos as well. It is capable of producing 720p HD files at the touch of a button. One of the thoughtful things about this camera is the inclusion of the movie button. You do not have to fidget about with all sorts of controls in order to get the video going. Rather you go back to that simple button and the rest is history.
E. Tucker (IA, USA) : This digital camera is simply brilliant. It is totally worth every penny I paid for it. Picture quality is amazing even after zooming. The cam is not too big or too small. Fits perfectly in my pocket.Easy to carry around when travelling. Day, night, rainy or any other bad conditions hardly effect the quelety of the pictures. This cam can also be used to record videos. Videos are HD and totally amazing. Record sounds are better too. To use this as a video recorder a powerful SD card with a good capacity is necessary. As there is no free card with this cam I had to buy one. My recommendation for this cam is New 32gb Micro Sd Card Sdhc Tf Flash Memory Card 32gb Class 10, New! Usa!. It is cheap and reliable. Never failed me.

Zack : Edit: 2012-11-30 this is better than I expected. Great quality with long distance shots. I'm still working on moving subjects in low light conditions. I do not like the "low light" mode, as the ISO seems to be set real high and the result is grainy. I'm using either manual or program modes. Still the best non-SLR that I've had.
I just got this camera and love it. For me, it has all of the advanced features found in much more expensive DSLR cameras, but without the price. The optical zoom is wonderful to have instead of having to worry about carrying around various lenses for larger cameras. It is not a pocket camera, nor would I recommend it for beginners, as there are a lot of features that would not be useful for them. The size of the camera is perfect for me. The flash has to be manually opened up, which I love because I don't have to fiddle around with making sure that the flash icon says what I want it to say...The flash is on or off, that simple.
Mickey "Mike" (Washington) : I LOVE this camera, when I first saw it was "to be released" I started getting exited, I need this camera, the zoom was (is) perfect, the price, eh, not outta sight. Finally the day came, It was available to order, I ordered, waiting, patiently for it to arrive in time for our Disneyland vacation. It arrived. I was sceptical, bigger that I was used to, smaller than I expected, would it live up to my 200? ... Then the I took some test shots, garden pics, they looked beautiful!! So we were off to vacation, I took many, many pictures, day, night, motions, stills, portrait, landscapes, flowers, characters, all looked good but only able to see them on the camera. When I got home, I plugged the camera into my 55" HD tv via the hdmi cable, started the slide show.....
A. Z. (Los Angeles) : This is a very nice camera if you are looking for a long range point and shoot camera with an excellent quick zoom and primarily will be shooting in daylight. I was looking for something smaller to carry around besides my big DSLR Camera and lenses. So I gave this camera a try and I was surprised at how small it was when I received it. The camera seemed well built and the focusing was very quick!!!! The stabilization worked very well at long distances. My only downfall with this camera was the Iso Noise in pictures in low light. It was very evident when you get around iso 600. Even at iso 400 you could see noise. I expected better low light results from Canon since I'm a Canon fan and I shoot with Canon products. I've had other point and shoot cameras that performed better in low light situations. In contrast, pictures in full daylight with no flash needed were very good!

S. Vogt : The camera has a glossy plastic finish which doesn't exactly exude quality or make it feel like a high-end camera. But construction on this camera is very tight. The plastic is light-weight but its not flimsy like you would expect. There is no rubberized handgrip, which I think was a mistake to omit this on this camera. Especially since its predecessor (and its competitors) have them. Outside of that, the hand grip is a very nice size. The one upshot to the lightweight plastic is that the camera feel very light with the kit lens attached.
W. Stewart "Bill" (Long Island, NY) : The menu was a LITTLE confusing at first, but I quickly got the gist of things and am taking good pictures with the camera. Having used the full-auto settings and just dabbling with the advanced settings, I'm very pleased with the purchase and I think anyone who is either new to DSLR cameras or who doesn't want to spend over $1000 for a 'pro' or 'prosumer' DSLR will also be very happy with it right out of the box... or ANY of the T series cameras for that matter.
If you're going to be shooting in RAW (or like I do in RAW+L) I recommend getting AT LEAST a 16GB card, if not a 32GB card. The included battery is a champ. It lasts a good long time & charges quickly. I was going to get a 2nd battery, but I don't think it's necessary at this time as it lasts for several hundred shots. The manual says it takes 2 hrs to charge a fully depleted battery, but the math doesn't work out that way. The included charger is portable & charges the included 860mAh Li-Ion battey at a 580mAh rate, so a full charge should be about 1.5hrs. I'll have to time it when I need a full charge & have the spare time to check it every 10 mins or so beyond the 1hr mark.
nakiska : I purchased this camera a few days ago and I've had nothing but FUN with it! Aside from my simple Kodak Easyshare point and shoot, I had a Canon EOS Elan 7 (35mm) and had been wanting to switch it over to Digital for several years. The longer I waited, the better the camera's got and more affordable they became.

Les : I have the professional Canon 5D Mark 2 camera with all the lenses, flash filters and everything else, but I needed a small camera for riding my motorcycle to events. After researching I settled on the Canon PowerShot SX510 HS, which I am glad I did. The first weekend I took over 300 photographs and I am extremely happy with this camera. I was really surprised at how small it is but it does take a nice 12 meg picture. For the price, I can't imagine using anything else.
John Blayse (Florida) : I love this camera. You can easy use it with auto focus. 3" screen. Optical zoom 30x. Interestingly, you can share you image with friends easily with Wifi were built in. With 12.1MP CMOS, it enough for basic user. You can adjust the option or auto shoot.
B. Newsom (Hawthorne, CA USA) : I have to admit, I am not a very avid photographer and until now have only used my cell phone and Ipod cameras. I think that for the price, this is exceptionally a great camera and who can ask for more. Does one need anything else unless a professional photographer? I say not. You will be pleased with this camera as I am. EXCELLENT PICTURE quality. And video that is better than blue ray discs.
